WHO ARE THE DAUGHTERS OF THE KING?

The Daughters of the King is a lay women’s Order of prayer and service of the Episcopal Church. Each member undertakes a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service, for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. Through reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation and study of their meaning,  a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service, and evangelism.

The Christ Church DOK Chapter meets every 6-8 weeks in small Agape Home Groups, wherein we pray for and support one another in our Christian walks. On a quarterly basis, we meet as a chapter for a Praise and Prayer supper, celebrating God’s goodness through answered prayer. On an ongoing basis, we maintain a confidential prayer chain for anyone who seeks our corporate prayer. Prayer requests may be called into the church office or e-mailed to our prayer coordinator, Rita Weston, at dokpearl@bellsouth.net.

Our Motto:  For His Sake, I am but one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do. Lord, what will you have me do?

The Emblem of the Order is a silver Greek Cross Fleury inscribed with the watchword of the Order, “Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine (With heart mind and spirit, bear and uphold the cross.). At the base of the cross are the initials “FHS”, initials for the Motto of the order, “For His Sake”. Each Daughter customarily wears the cross and can be approached for prayer in confidence.
