Overview

As Mount Pleasant continues to experience very rapid growth, and especially out Highway 17 North and US 41, so have the numbers of singles, couples and families who have chosen Christ Church as their church home.  As a result, a large percentage of our growth are families with children ranging from pre-kindergarten to college-bound teenagers.  In addition and due to an excellent staff, our school and Sunday School programs have attracted young people from other churches and ones who were not attending any church.

In answer to God's call to provide expanded opportunities for adults and especially younger members where they can continue to grow in His love and footsteps, Christ Church has started Phase II of its campus.

With God's help, Christ Church  has started Phase II of its campus.  The first phase, which was the construction of the new sanctuary, which was started in (September 1996), completed (September 1998) and the paid-off mortgage was burned February 23, 2003.

Planning for Phase II started (Month 2000) that would add two new buildings, the extension of the Narthex, new entry drive, central courtyard, additional paved parking and renovations to the old, small Historic Church.  The estimated completion date for this second phase is mid September 2003.

Master Plan

The master plan for the complete Christ Church Campus is shown below and incorporates the existing and the new facilities.

Phase II

Narthex Extension
The new sanctuary is at the left and shows the addition to extend the narthex in the tan color.  This extension, with two additional doors,  will provide more room before and after services and functions in the main sanctuary and faster entry and exiting especially during inclement weather.

Youth Ministry & Interim Parish Hall
This new building at the top will provide space for the fast growing children and youth ministries.  It will also house the interim parish hall that is now served by Holt Hall on the eastern side of the campus.

Children's Ministry Building
This building, located at the bottom of the drawing, will house multiple education programs for children:

  • Preschool Ministry - Sundays for children birth through 5K.  Children are provided with a safe and loving place where they are introduced to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in an exciting, age appropriate environment.
  • Children's Ministry - Sundays for children 1st through 5th grades.  This ministry provides an exciting, age appropriate environment where they are encouraged to inter into a relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
  • Day School - This ministry serves preschool children with a 2K, 3K and 4K program.  Children are given a wealth of opportunities to learn through play, develop friendships and experience God's unconditional love.

Courtyard and Walkways
A large courtyard will be located between the two new buildings and the existing sanctuary with surrounding, covered walkways connecting the buildings.  There will be a convenient, covered "drop-off" near the Narthex for those needing assistance and in inclement weather.

Future Expansion
The final phase of the current plans will be the addition of two buildings.  One building just west of the Children's Ministry  & Interim Parish Hall would house the church's administrative offices and dressing and practice rooms for the choirs.  The second building opposite the sanctuary will be the future and much larger parish hall.
