I have pondered why I seem drawn to going back to La Gonave, Haiti - four trips now over the last 12 years. It is such a blessing in so many ways to me and for sure makes me count my blessings in my life here in the U.S. where we are so spoiled and take so much for granted. There is another thought I would add to the starfish story: think for just a minute what differences are made? it's not just making a difference for "starfish" or "Haiti" - think of the difference made in the heart and spirit of the little boy. God always bestows on us more blessings than we can ever hope to give to others. Several Bible verses come to mind:  in Matthew 25:40 when Jesus' disciples ask if they have ever neglected Him, Jesus responds, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." And in John 15:16 Jesus tells us: "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last." And finally from Isaiah 6:8 - "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,  "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"  And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

So the real question for us at Christ Church is just that: what is our answer to God's call? Is it going to be"Here am I. Send me!"
