Christ Episcopal Church of Mt.Pleasant, South Carolina.

I’m Jim Zaher and have been the Student Minister at Christ Church since July of 2005. I have been working with young people for 12 years and have a degree in secondary education from Adrian college in Adrian Michigan. I played football while in college and I absolutely love the sport because of what it taught me that prepared me for life. I grew up in Michigan and have lived in several states.  I lived the last 5 years in Western Pennsylvania .  I spent 18 months as an assistant youth minister at the Church of the Ascension in Pittsburgh and 3 years as the youth minister at St. Paul’s Church in Kittanning PA. Before coming to  South Carolina my wife and I were volunteer leaders for a very non traditional church plant in Pittsburgh called Three Nails.  I love history, reading, the outdoors, the Star Wars movies and playing games (Risk, Monopoly and dodge ball being at the top of my list). My wife Holly and I have been married for three years.  Holly is also a long time youth worker who loves to read, crochet and blog.  Our one year old baby, Ellie, loves to run around the house and give hugs and kisses.

As a youth minister I love kids enough that one was groomsman in my wedding and another is the God mother to my first child.  My greatest desire is to create community among young people who want to wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus in the 21st century.  I believe immensely in creating a safe space for all to belong.  I live by the motto that God wants to use the lives of middle school and high school students to impact this world for the kingdom of Heaven today! The question isn’t what do you want to be when you grow up, but who do you want to be today?!!
