For the week of 1 Lent, the writer was asked to meditate on the theme of prayer.
COLLECT OF THE WEEK
Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan: Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and, as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. - Book of Common Prayer, p. 218
Today’s Gospel reading contains the story of Jesus’ first miracle – turning water into wine. How appropriate it is that His mother would be on hand to witness the first of His signs. Who, on earth, would know him better?
“Do whatever he tells you” she says to the servants. Mary doesn't know what the solution is but she has complete confidence that Jesus does.
We can benefit from her example. By putting our trust in Jesus we can be sure that even though we don't know the answer, we can depend on someone who does.
In prayer tell Jesus the details of the problems that are weighing on your heart. Don’t worry about the path to the solution. He will find a way.
We encourage you to post your own reflections, questions, or discussions in the comment section located at the bottom of each post.
