The
East Cooper Concert Series had a very successful season last year. Over 1,700
people attended the concerts and over $5,000 was raised for Meals on Wheels and
the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.
The Series has finally attained its goal: to offer professional classical music
concerts in a warm and relaxed environment. Often the gap between the performers
and the musical understanding of the audience is so large, the audience 'misses'
the point of the entire piece. At this series, the performers talk
casually to the audience explaining the music. They also mingle at the
reception during intermission, answering questions and getting to know their
audience. All this helps create a warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect for
music making!
