Pastor Matthew Rivers
Matthew Rivers serves the Anglican Diocese of SC, as Pastor of St. John’s Chapel. He has a Masters of Divinity degree, from Trinity School for Ministry. Matthew is a Chaplain with Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy. He is a passionate servant of our Lord, Jesus Christ. His daily prayer is that God would continue to use him as a vessel in the work of reconciliation to all humanity. Isaiah, 8:6 says, “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I’ send me.”
Matthew serves as board member of New Wineskins Missionary Network, and Low Line Project of Charleston. He is the board chair for Hampstead Trust, an organization focusing on revitalization of the Eastside community. In addition to pastoring St. John’s Chapel, Matthew is a pastor who never meets a stranger and serves every person he encounters. He is a Bible teacher, and studies the Word of God with many different Men’s Bible Studies.
Matthew is husband to Henrietta Rivers, step-father to Kariesha and Jordan and son to Ms. Martha Eden and Mr. Matthew Rivers Sr.
