SopranoFrom a sold out Carnegie Hall debut to leading roles nationally and abroad, Laura Basse consistently delights. The Washington Post celebrated her voice as “fresh and agile” while “powerfully” portraying Micaëla in Carmen; and in a production of Don Giovanni wrote her presence “lit up the stage” while singing Donna Elvira. Basse has had the privilege of working with famed opera veterans throughout her operatic study and career -- including Sherrill Milnes, Evelyn Lear, Carol Vaness, and Sylvia McNair. Her singing has taken her to cities across the globe: Paris, London, Rome, Vienna, New York and more. While Laura was performing Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro) in Prague, OperaWire wrote: “Each phrase was shaped with subtlety. Basse gave the character a lightness allowing the audience to see her playful nature. Her ‘Dove sono’ had a commanding presence as she released her full volume... soaring.”
